On Independence Day, Macy’s is sponsoring the 40th annual 4th of July fireworks display. The fireworks will launch from six barges on the East River, including one near the South Street Seaport, opposite Brooklyn Heights and Brooklyn Bridge Park. The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:25 pm.
Street Closures / No Parking / Frozen Zones
The 84th Precinct of the New York Police Department (NYPD) has announced the following local street closures in preparation of the fireworks display planned for Monday, July 4:
Montague Street (from Hicks Street to Columbia Heights)
Old Fulton Street (from Prospect Street to Furman Street)
Cadman Plaza West (from Tillary Street to Prospect Street)
Furman Street (from Old Fulton Street to Atlantic Avenue)
Columbia Heights (from Remsen Street to Old Fulton Street)
Atlantic Avenue (from Hicks Street to Furman Street)
Joralemon Street (from Columbia Place to Furman Street)
All streets west of Hicks Street leading to the Promenade
John Street (from Adams Street to Bridge Street)
Water Street (from Old Fulton Street. to Washington Street)
Front Street (from Old Fulton Street to York Street)
Main Street (from Front Street to Plymouth Street)
Dock Street (from Front Street to Water Street)
All streets north of Plymouth Street leading to the waterfront
BRIDGE FOOT AND BIKE PATHS
Will close at 7:00 P.M., subject to change, until after the conclusion of the fireworks
Vehicles cannot park on the streets listed above beginning at 11:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 3, through approximately 11:00 P.M. on Monday, July 4. Vehicles not moved by 11:00 P.M. on Sunday will be relocated to a nearby parking space at the discretion of the NYPD tow operator.
Vehicles will not be able to be operated on the above streets, and perhaps other, beginning at 4:00 P.M. on Monday, July 4.
ADDITIONAL STREETS MAY BE UTILIZED AS NO PARKING AND FROZEN ZONES
SIGNAGE WILL BE POSTED ON TREES AND POLES IN ADVANCE.
NO PARKING OF VEHICLES ON THE ABOVE STREETS WILL BEGIN ON JULY 3 AT 11:00 P.M.
UNTIL JULY 4 AT 11:00 P.M.
CLOSURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT 4:00 P.M. AND WILL REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL 11:00 P.M.
ANYONE PARKED IN A GARAGE WITHIN THE FROZEN ZONE
WILL NEED TO MOVE THEIR VEHICLE IN OR OUT BEFORE 4:00 P.M.

Closures in Brooklyn Bridge Park
Brooklyn Bridge Park will be open on July 4th. When planning a visit to the park on Independence Day, please note the following:
º Please use the entrances at Old Fulton and Furman streets, or Joralemon and Furman streets.
º Bags will be checked by NYPD at all entrances.
º Please use public transportation.

º Squibb Park will be closed.
º The entrance at Atlantic Avenue/Pier 6 will be closed to pedestrian traffic at 4:00 pm.
º John Street will be closed at 4:00 pm.

º Barbecues on Picnic Peninsula will be closed. Picnic tables and benches may still be used.
º The Pier 2 parking lot will be closed.
º All playgrounds will close at 4:00 pm.
º The Pop-Up Pool will close at 4:00 pm.
º Jane’s Carousel will close at 4:00 pm.
º Pier 2 and the Roller Rink will close at 4:00 pm.
º B63 bus will stop running west of Hicks Street at 4:00 pm.
º Pier 5 sports fields will close at 4:00 pm.
º Pier 6 Volleyball Courts will close at 4:00 pm.
º DUMBO Boulders will close at 4:00 pm.
º Governors Island Ferry service stops at 4:00 pm.
º East River Ferry service stops at 4:00 pm.
