BROOKLYN, NY (April 25, 2018) – Spring is the perfect season to get acquainted with the
vibrant artistic neighborhood of Fort Greene, which for decades has been an historical hub of arts and culture. ART360º / FORT GREENE: A Day of Art and Discovery, slated for
Saturday, May 5 from 11am – 5pm, serves up an invitation to discover the art that surrounds us in this beautiful, bustling area, where the creative community finds urban inspiration and a common love for diverse surroundings. We’ve lined up some special activities to make it even more fun, like live window painting, free guided walking tours, artist exhibits, open house receptions and more! Chart your course using the illustrated guide map (also available at fabfulton.org), and plan to visit some of the FAB shops and stops in the area, as well as various cultural institutions and arts centers.
Art as history: discover the roots and legacy of the Brooklyn Cultural District through a series of FREE guided walking tours, co-presented by FAB Alliance and American Opera Projects (AOP). The BROOKLYN CULTURAL DISTRICT TOURS are 2-hour strolls past both spontaneous and commissioned street art, as well as performance venues and other places of note — more than a dozen spaces and locations that have already made the Brooklyn Cultural District a major arts destination. And, hear a bit of history illustrated through “pop-up” performances by AOP members along the way! For ART360º / FORT GREENE, on Sat., May 5th, we’ll host two tours, one at 11am and another at 3pm. The tours are free, but pre-registration is encouraged; sign-up at http://bit.ly/FABTourMay.
