During the 4th annual event, participants will enjoy inspirational poems and performances, followed by a read-a-thon.

When young women are denied an education because of social, economic, cultural or political factors, the world loses one of its most powerful resources for progress and change. GIRLS READ FOR GIRLS is inspired by the work of Malala Yousefzai.

Poetry reading by Eden Duncan-Smith.
Dedicated to the Chibok schoolgirls that were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria.

Eden Duncan-Smith, (actor, singer, dancer), made a mark on Broadway— she starred opposite Denzel Washington and Viola Davis in 2010’s Fences— before landing her first big film role as a ragamuffin in Annie. Eden was recognized with a BET Black Girls Rock! M.A.D. Girl Award for her philanthropic work.
